Roland Gilbert Lowden Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Roland Gilbert Lowden, who left this world on February 10 2025 at the age of 84. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, physician, and veteran, Ron lived a life of service, dedication, and love.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Ron pursued his education with passion and determination. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo before attending the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he fulfilled his dream of becoming a physician. Following medical school, he served his country with honor as a doctor in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. His service was a testament to his strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
After his military service, Ron built a distinguished medical career starting as a pathologist and in later years transitioned to specialize in the field of child psychiatry, caring for his patients with compassion and skill. He was known not only for his expertise but also for his kindness and the genuine care he showed to everyone he treated.
Outside of medicine, Ron found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, a skilled woodworker, and, above all, a man who cherished time spent with his family. Whether crafting something in his workshop, casting a line on a quiet morning, or sharing stories at the dinner table, he embraced every moment with warmth and humor.
Ron also took great pride in his Jewish faith, which was a guiding force in his life. His values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion reflected his deep connection to his heritage, and he passed these beliefs on to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Peggy, and his family. His sons Eric, and Cindy Lowden and their three children; Jessica, Christopher, and Emily, the late Jeffery Lowden and his wife Kathleen Britton and their daughter Abigail, and Kevin Lowden and his two children Millie and Matthew.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ron’s home healthcare nurses and aides from Synergy Homecare and Heartland Hospice, whose kindness, dedication, and support brought him comfort and dignity in his final weeks. Their care was a true gift, and their compassion will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held on February 14th at Temple Shomer Emunim at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Temple Shomer Emunim.
Dr. Roland Gilbert Lowden’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.
