Rosemarie G. Duszynski Obituary

Rosemarie Gloria Duszynski, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away at age 91 on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Rosemarie was born on January 9, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, to Steve and Mary Jagodzinski. She attended Central Catholic High School, played clarinet in the marching band, and graduated in 1949. Rosemarie worked as a stenographer in the legal department of Owens-Corning before marrying Joseph Duszynski on January 5, 1957. She devoted many years in the principal's office of Notre Dame Academy as the secretary for Sister M. Patricia Snyder and Sister M. Carol Gregory.

Joe and Rosemarie made Toledo their home and together they raised six children, Ann (Tom) McMacken, Tom (Tammy Snell) Duszynski, Janet (Dick) Miller, Arline (Jeff) Soncrant, Julie (Tom) Jackman, and Amy (Chris) Marshall.

She was affectionately known as "Ba" to her 14 grandchildren, Emily, Joe, Brian, Rachel, Ryan, Nathan, Brad, Jeremy, Kevin, Eric, Sarah, Abby, Kirstin, and Tyler. Ba was especially thrilled to be a great-grandmother to Rosie, Maggie, Ben, Francis and Brooks. Rosemarie enjoyed travelling to visit her family scattered across the country and would never miss a baptism, confirmation, graduation, wedding or vacation if she could help it.

Rosemarie dedicated much of her life to service. Until 2020, she helped coordinate the Most Blessed Sacrament Outreach program, which provides aid to individuals and families experiencing hardship by providing them with financial assistance, items from the food pantry and baskets at Christmas. Rosemarie also served Most Blessed Sacrament Church in other ways. She was faithful to a weekly Eucharistic Adoration hour, brought communion to the sick and helped count the Sunday collection for many years. She also volunteered many years helping with recreational activities for the elderly residents at Sunset House as a member of the Auxiliary.

Rosemarie truly enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. In her later years, she enjoyed living at The Woodlands where she made many new friends as well as attended services at Corpus Christi. Her legacy of genuine caring, cheerfulness and willingness to help will be remembered. She loved gardening, baking with her grandkids, the beach, reading, Sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, bridge and Rummikub. She always prepared the kielbasa perfectly (which more than made up for her tuna casserole).

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her "ever loving" husband, Joe; parents, Steve and Mary; sister, Elaine Jagodzinski; and great-grandson, Francis. She is survived by her brother, Ron Jagodzinski, along with her six children, fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend a special thank you to all the kind staff at The Woodlands/Sunset House, Kingston of Sylvania and Ohio Living for all their dedicated service.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 2240 Castlewood Dr., Toledo, Ohio, with Mass at 11 a.m. (live stream available at the following link: https://venue.streamspot.com/fc256be5)  and visitation starting at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest immediately afterwards in a private ceremony.
