Sandra "Sandy" (Welch) Isenberg took her final bow on Monday, October 28th, 2024, after a very full 85 years of life. Sandy, a Toledo institution and a woman of the people, spent the majority of her adult life kicking a** and taking names on Lucas County's political battlefield. As a staunch Democrat and longtime supporter of the Toledo Police Department, Sandy proudly bled blue. Her favorite colors, however, were pink, sparkles and leopard print. You could always see her coming. And, if you couldn't see her, you could almost certainly hear her. Her voice – in both substance and volume - was loud, clear, and uproarious. She always said what she meant, and she always meant what she said.
In passing, Sandy leaves behind the community for which she fought so fiercely and loved so deeply. The only thing she loved more than Lucas County and its residents were its restaurants. The woman loved to eat and eat well - something she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Behind "What the f*** is the matter with you?," her favorite questions to ask were "Are you hungry?" and "Can I get you a little something to eat?"
Above all, Sandy adored her family. The highlight and blessing of her day was speaking with her sons and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Michael and Dennis Isenberg; and four grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Max and Maris Isenberg, with whom she left countless, precious memories and a special collection of very colorful voicemails. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Charlie; and her sister, Barbara (Alan) Konop.
