Stephen P. Fried, age 74, died on September 27, 2021. He was born to Harry and Frances Fried of Glencoe, Illinois, in 1947. He attended Culver Military School and went on to graduate from New Trier High School, Syracuse University, his M.A. from Purdue University and doctoral work at the University of Toledo. He worked at Kellermeyer Chemical and most recently at Ann Arbor Cleaning Supply as a salesman. He was best known as an adjunct professor for Sienna Heights and 37 years at Monroe County Community College. He adored his teaching and spent many long hours putting pep in his lectures.
He was married to Elizabeth "Betsy" (Gallagher) Fried for 47 years. Also survived by daughters, Megan (Sam) VanDyke and Sarah (Ronald) Mills; grandchildren, Maddy and Izzy VanDyke, Ian and Jacob Mills; and brother, Richard (Pam) Fried.
Steve taught Sunday School for 26 years at the Congregation Etz Chayim. He had many interests, amongst them Jazz, The Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and most other sports teams. He was passionate about politics and world events, often thinking he was born in the wrong generation. His greatest wish was to be cremated and be buried at Wrigley Field, even though this was not possible.
Services and interment for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Eagle Point Cemetery in Rossford, Ohio. A Celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date so that more can attend.
Memorial donations are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
