Susan Jean Jesionowski, 78, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2022, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio. Susan was born July 12, 1943 in Toledo, OH to Timothy and Dorothy Brassil. She attended Union Elementary School and Maumee High School. Upon graduation, she worked at Teidtke's Department Store. She was then blessed with four beautiful daughters. On October 11, 1968, she married Tom Jesionowski. They had one more beautiful daughter and raised their family together.
Throughout her life, Susan was very artistic. Over the years she created many beautiful ceramic pieces, macrame art and paintings. She worked at the Meijer Store in Maumee, OH, starting in the deli department and working her way up to manager of the seafood department. Susan missed her artistic endeavors, so she left Meijer to pursue a job designing and creating lampshades for a local store in Maumee. Some of her unique lampshades can still be found in area homes and local restaurants.
Susan was proud of her Irish heritage. Her father, Timothy, immigrated to the U.S. to start a new life. She considered herself fortunate to have visited Ireland twice with family to explore her heritage.
In addition to her loving husband of 53 years, Susan is survived by her five daughters, Kimberly (Matthew) Osburn, of Maumee; Annette Meek of Toledo; Brenda (James) Shanks of Toledo; Billie Jo Mehl of Toledo and Susie Graber of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Benjamin, Catherine and Kelsey, Michaela, Courtney, Tyler, Jeffrey and Kendall, Nathan, Madison and James, and Andrew and Tristan. She was a loving "Gigi" to 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her 2 sisters, Nancy Nunnally (aka soul sister Hazel) and Shirley Grothjan, both of whom she loved dearly. She was loved and cherished by many nieces and nephews. Last, she is survived by her most special canine companion, Holly, who was always by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Dorothy Brassil; sisters, Salley, Bonnie, Molly and Colleen; and brothers, Allen and Douglas.
Susan will be remembered for her sense of humor, infectious laugh, quick wit and contagious silliness. Her love of family and gregarious presence at family gatherings will be missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road. Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at Saints Adalbert & Hedwig Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee.
Per Susan's wishes, donations may be made to: Lucas County Canine Control (LC4) or Helping Hands of St. Louis, both in Toledo, OH.
Mom: Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
