Theodore Joseph Stachowiak

1947 - 2021

Theodore Joseph “Ted” Stachowiak, age 73, of Toledo, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Toledo Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born on October 29, 1947 to Leon and Regina “Virgie” (Rosinski) Stachowiak in Toledo. Ted attended DeVilbiss High School and graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate Degree. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Ted worked many years at DeVilbiss Manufacturing and most recently he was a metrologist at New Mather Metals, Inc.

Ted was a lifelong member of the NRA and NSCA Sporting Clays; the true sportsman that he was, he loved being outdoors, hunting by his little cabin in West Branch, Michigan. Many memories and trips were made on his motorcycle, a passion he had since he was 15 years old, including two trips to Sturgis.

His family will remember him for his sense of humor that was unmatched, even in his sickest days he remained upbeat and jovial to those around him. Ted was also a family man; working hard to provide for his loving wife of 49 years, Mary (Kraft) Stachowiak and his daughter, Regina.  Other than his full head of thick hair, he was most proud of his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to attend soccer games, dance competitions and recitals.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Kraft) Stachowiak; daughter, Regina (Joel) Bolbach; grandchildren, Isabella and Zachary Bolbach; brother- in-law  Al (Sue) Kraft; many nieces and nephews; his beloved furry companion, Hellen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Raymond Stachowiak; best buddy, Hahns.

With Ted being a private, humble and hard working family man; his wishes were honored by his family. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the future.

Ted’s wife and daughter would like to specially thank Chika and Kris from Toledo Hospital – 9th floor ICU for going the extra mile and providing excellent care.

If donations are desired the family asks that Wounded Warrior Project and Natures Nursery are considered.

Sorry for your loss, its all your loss as well. Ted and I grew up togeather and enjoyed lots of antics.  His dad always sharpened our ice skates for us. I'll never forget the morning I went to meet Ted at his house to go to church.  His mom cooking breakfast with Helen and Chit on the radio. Sit down Paul Ted will be a few minutes so she slides kielbasa in front me. Just then her favorite song comes on, Paul you know how to poka!! What know! Well it's time , she swung me around and around until this Frenchman got it. Honestly I think she had a great time too. I can poka with the best of them. We were about 15years old. Ted and I both had 65 Mustangs.  We also loved Tom's hamburgers and cherry cokes from Goons drug store. Between us we used a jar of vaseline in our hair a day. Later on in live we met up at old oak's tavern and also enjoyed a snakebite. He will be missed and I'll toast a snakebite to him soon!

To Ted's family and friends,

Ted was a childhood friend to everyone I knew of in the St. Hyacinth neighborhood where we grew up. We "camped" in a camper his Dad made while Ted kept us in stitches with jokes and antics. I moved away to Florida for years and we had not seen each other since Georg Knapik, Paul LaBay, Ted and myself met after he was at Adams conservation practicing his marksmanship, This was about 1996 or so. I am so sorry for the loss of Ted. He even kept me straight on our wedding day. I added a photo taken on March 7, 1970 of Ted, Paul LaBay, Art Oleksiak and myself ( the groom). May his memories comfort his wife, family and friends.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear of Ted's passing.  Although I haven't seen him for many years, I do recall that he was a very nice man and would do anything to help his friends.  I will never forget the time during the '78 blizzard when he came a very long ways to pick us up and take to a safer place on his snowmobile.  Not many people would do that during a blizzard. May he rest in peace. I'll keep you and Regina in my prayers.

My condolences to his family.  Teddy was a neighbor when we were growing up on Evesham.  I have wonderful memories of us as kids, sitting on the roof of his dads garage picking and eating cherries off his dads low hanging cherry tree and talking about cars, motorcycles, and growing up.  Thank you for being my buddy and may you rest in peace.
