William D. Zimmerman Obituary
William D. Zimmerman was born in Toledo on August 28, 1939. He passed away on September 23, 2026. William was the son of the late Dorothy (Wolson) Zimmerman and Manuel Zimmerman.
William went to Old Orchard grade school and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1957. William attended The Ohio State University and graduated from the University of Toledo with a business degree in accounting. While a freshman at Ohio State, he met his wife, Marcia, on a blind date. They dated several years while William was in college, and they married on November 21,1964. Marcia was the love of his life. Soon, they moved to New Jersey where William was an accountant for Sterling Drugs. They had their first daughter, Lori, while living in New Jersey. After a few years, they returned to Toledo where William worked for the City of Toledo Urban Renewal as an accountant.
William was an avid "NASCAR" fan. He loved to repair all kinds of trucks and cars. In 1973, he opened a Shell station at the corner of Alexis and Secor. Marcia would help in doing all the payroll, bookkeeping, and office work.
In 1978 during the blizzard, William opened up Bill's Trilby Automotive and Truck Repair on Tremainsville Rd. He operated the business for 35 years.
William enjoyed getting together with family and friends and his former DeVilbiss classmates. He was a long time member of the Congregation Etz Chayim.
William was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nancy (Zimmerman) Weisberg; and brother-in-law, Norty Weisberg. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Marcia (Powder) Zimmerman; and daughters, Lori (Dr. Stuart) Feldman of Las Vegas, Sheri (Scott) Singer of Toledo, and Debbie (Barry) Gudelman of Sylvania. William was known as "Papa Bill" to his grandchildren, Ben, Dylan, and Jordan Feldman; Gerald, Megan, and Joshua Singer; and Isaac and Alexa Gudelman. Also surviving is his brother, Dr. James (Beth) Zimmerman of Boca Raton, Florida; and sister-in-law, Linda (Alan) Linsky of Buffalo, New York. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
William was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He will be truly missed but in our hearts forever.
The family wishes to thank Kingston of Sylvania and Toledo Hospital ICU for their compassionate care of William.
