Allan Chabler

Allan Chabler passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the age of 81.
He was born in Toledo, OH, January 11, 1935, to Sara Berlowitz Chabler and Harry Chabler. He had one sister, Marilyn Saunders, a brother Dr. Seymour Chabler, and a twin brother, Jerry Chabler. 
He graduated from Scott High School in 1953. He continued to be active with his class reunions, and remained friends with many of his classmates his entire life. 
He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo in 1961.
He then began his law practice in Toledo, with the firm Joelson, Chabler and Jacobs. Later, he was a sole practitioner and practiced law for a total of 51 years. Also, he was an Assistant Ohio Attorney General under William Brown and Anthony Celebrezze. He handled many cases for the state of Ohio and sat on the Ethics Committee of the Ohio Bar Association. He was a Staff Attorney for the Lucas County Recorder's office, under Recorder Janine Perry. He was well respected by his peers, clients, and all who had the good fortune to know him for his compassion, fairness, and integrity. 
He was an avid runner, and ran daily for almost 50 years. He was a regular at the Jewish Community Center YMCA, and was loved by all his workout buddies. 
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen, and their 4 children, Leslie Miller (Alan), Jacqueline Morris Bell (David), Michael Chabler (Lilla), Sue Macklis (Gary), and 8 loving grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Seymour (Judy), and twin brother, Jerry. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marilyn.
Services will be held Sunday, November 20, 2016 at B'nai Israel Synagogue at 1:30 p.m., followed by graveside services at Beth Shalom Cemetery, North Oregon, OH. Shiva will be held at the residence of Allan and Ellen Chabler from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Planned Parenthood, The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association
